In recent years there has been a lot of noise about sources and uses of energy.  This page is a collection of things I've come across on the subject.
 
It costs money to buy energy, so in most cases it is just good money managment to save energy.  I work on saving energy to save money.  Some people work on saving energy to save the earth.  Whatever the motives, it's good to use less energy.
